In July I partially dislocated my left shoulder and tore my labrum. I was lifting weights at the Auburn Valley YMCA during a Women on Weights class. I was lifting 25 pound dumbbells in an overhead shoulder press. I had done this exercise many times before with this amount of weight. So, this was nothing new to me.
It took a few months for me to decide to have the arthroscopic shoulder surgery. At first I was convinced that I would be fine just doing the physical therapy. After many prayers, doctor visits, research, and a preisthood blessing I finally decided to have the surgery.
I had shoulder surgery at Cascade Orthopedics in Auburn on September 14th. The surgery went well. I have been in a sling for the past several weeks.
This week I began my physical therapy in Federal Way. I have felt so much better this week being able to move my shoulder and stretch it out a bit.
I have been enjoying the benefits of moist heat therapy! I apply heat prior to my range of motion exercises. Next, I perform my simple exercises and then I use my Iceman to ice my shoulder. I am so grateful for heat and ice!
My family has been so helpful around the house. My ward has been bringing in meals a few times a week for the last several weeks. My friends have been driving my children to playgroup, ballet, preschool, and school.
I have been humbeld by this expereince. I feel so much gratitude for the service performed for our family.
